Noma

Noma is a world-class restaurant. It's rated number 3 on Restaurant Magazine's list over the world's 50 best restaurants in the word and in 2007 Noma was appointed the best restaurant in Copenhagen by the paper Berlingske Tidene. Noma has also been rewarded with two stars in the renowned Michelin guide. Noma is short for Nordisk Mad (Nordic Food), and here there is no room for sundried tomatoes or other Mediterranean food staples. Everything being served is of Nordic origin, and traditional cooking methods such as preservation and smoke-curing reigns in the kitchen. The fundamental idea of the Nordic cooking tradition runs through the entire restaurant. The food is of highest quality and the menu offer courses like asparagus with mousse made of smoked marrow, and onions from Laso; glazed lamb with roots; Danish lobster with seaweed; Nordic cheese. Noma is run by René Redzepi together with food entrepreneur Claus Meyer, and is located in Christianshavn in a large newly renovated warehouse, with a nice view over the city´s inner harbor. Noma is closed summertime during 13 July and 3 August.
