Rosenborg Slot

Rosenborg Slot was erected by the King Christian IV and is definitely worth a visit. The castle’s history begins around 1606 when the king built a summerhouse in the then newly built park, Kongens Have. Since the king enjoyed the area, an additional tower and a drawbridge was built in 1611. Bertel Langes and Hans van Steenwinckels are the two architects who came to design the castle with its characteristic high towers of red sandstone. Royalties have lived here for over 300 years and 24 of the rooms are nowadays open for guided tours. The so called Lange Sal has been used for banquettes, audiences and other events and this is also where you find the royal throne. You can also visit the museum in the basement where they show the Crown jewels.
