Amalienborg Slot

Amalienborg Slot is the winter residence of the Danish Royal Family and it’s probably the most exquisite example of Rococo architecture in Denmark. The four palaces at Amalienborg were originally erected for four noblemen in the 18th century. But in 1794 the royal residence Christiansborg burned to the ground and the Royal Family moved into Amalienborg. Since then the castle has been there permanent residence. The changing of the guards at Amalienbord normally takes place every day at 12. When the Queen is in the castle the flag is raised. Only the courtyard is open to the public.
