Sometimes it’s a drag to wait for your flight to depart, especially if you’re one of those people who always are in good time. Sooner or later you have been into all the shops and had your cup of coffee and read your book and so on. But the Danish airport Kastrup offers a number of activities that helps you kill the time. Besides they don’t cost a thing!

Art

Kastrup has surprisingly many pieces of art; these are the ones that Öresundsregionen recommends you to look at:

1. Hanne Varning's bronce statue at terminal 3 that visualizes two women leaning against the banister.

2. Trondur Patursson’s beautiful glass birds that is located under the roof in section D at gate D.

3. Egon Fischer’s colorful piece of art that contains over 105 aluminum reliefs, the piece can be found in the transit area.

4. The glass frieze and the equestrian statue by the norweigan artist Frans Widerberg. Located in section D at gate D.

5. Raimo Veranens cleaver piece called “Ready to fly” that visualizes 56 dancing children, locate in section D at gate D.

Architecture

The airport is often said to represent Denmark’s image and you can tell that a lot of work has been put into the buildings architecture, form and function. Aluminum, steel, glass, marble and wood are the materials that mainly have been used when creating the airport. Not to be forgotten is the architect Vilhelm Lauritz that designed the first terminal in 1939.

Recreation

If you had enough of the crowd in the restaurant you can instead bring your coffee to the calm transit centre at terminal 2 in section D. It’s an airy, green and surprisingly peaceful oasis in all the surrounding chaos. If you prefer to relax in comfortable designer furniture’s you should visit the resting area at terminal 2. Take a nap or read a good book in one of Arne Jacobsen’s cylinder shaped stools.
