Second hand guide
|
During the last couple of years Copenhagen has experienced a boom in second hand clothing. Shops have popped up everywhere in the city and there is a huge assortment to choose from –from exclusive luxury second hand clothing with a scent of Dior to festive vintage outfits and fun accessories. Øresundsregionen will help you find your way in the second hand jungle! In the city centreThe first thing to do is to move away from the main shopping street, Strøget. You’ll find the best second hand shops in the small side streets. In Silkegade, a small side street to Købmagergade that runs parallel to Strøget, you’ll find Ca Roule Ma Poule. Exclusive to its fingertips! If you’re a fan of Lene from Aqua you should go here immediately. Not only does she frequent the shop, she also sells her clothes here now and then. In the Nansensgade neighbourhood you’ll find the newly opened Copenhagen Treasure, a shop that also carries luxury second hand clothing and a selective choice of the most famous designers. Kongens Klær is situated in Rosenborgsgade, not too far from Kultorvet. This is a gold mine if you’re looking for a gorgeous pair of shoes or boots at a reasonable price. But the very best area when it comes to second hand shopping is the colourful, commercial Pisserenden , north of Strøget. Here the stile is slightly less exclusive and more retro, fun and alternative. You’ll find shops like: Fisk: Shop for charity at Folkekirken’s stylish second hand shop. This is also a great place for a break and a cup of Fair Trade coffee in the café. Kitsch Bitch: Remember the 70’s and the 80’s? Remember all those clothes you swore never to wear again? Well, they’re back in fashion and you can find them at Kitch Bitch. In Christianshavn you’ll find Yo-Yo Second Hand Shop. The owner is none other than Helena Christensen’s mother, and among the clothes here you’ll definitely find garments from the former supermodel’s wardrobe. In VesterbroAlmost in the middle of Istedgade you’ll find E-Vintage, a super cosy shop with a retro style. Even if the clothes look exclusive, the prices are not. You’ll easily make a bargain amongst the colourful selections. In Genbrug, on Vesterbrogade itself, you’ll find one of Denmark’s largest assortments of second hand dresses in all shapes and colours. In ØsterbroOne of the first second hand shops to ever deal with commissions is situated in Nordre Frihavnsgade and is called Greibe og Kumari. This is where you’ll find luxury brand names like Marc Jacobs and Prada, and they also have a whole section of cute baby clothes. About ten minutes walk from there is the equally exclusive Haberdash, where you’ll find names like Chanel and Roberto Cavalli. In NørrebroNørrebro is mainly known for its many antique shops, but they can also pride themselves on the wonderful Glam. In here it’s all about tongue in cheek glitz and glamour. Think Hollywood, think sequins and colourful plastic jewellery. It’s a good idea to show up for Ladies Night once a month. It entails great offers, drinks and good music. In FrederiksbergDesign second hand shop Muda nashi is situated near the metro station and sell commission second hand of the highest quality. The style is exclusive and you’ll only find luxury brands like BY Malene Birger, Mads Nørgaard and Chloé here. If you’re looking for something completely different you should go to Von Qualen, a second hand shop with 50’s nostalgia in abundance! This is where you’ll find the perfect retro dress and accessories to match, and they sell both second hand clothing and new clothing in a sassy vintage style. If you like funky commission clothes in a slightly more bohemian style you should visit Tiger-Lily on Værnedamsvej. In CharlottenlundIn the suburb Charlottenlund, which is generally seen as a fairly exclusive area, is the equally exclusive second hand shop Cocobell. This is another shop that deals with commission, and the many fancy ladies of Charlottenlund constantly supply the shop with new goodies from designers like Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Prada.
