In today’s Copenhagen, there are numerous little specialty shops where designers sell their own collections. New design co-operatives are also formed in order to give new names a chance on the established market. You can spend hours finding and admiring original cuts, arty furniture design and innovative products.

Street wear on Elmegade

Are you looking for street wear or maybe a hand printed t-shirt? Then you should start on Nørrebro and Elmegade. This street lies between Skt. Hans Torv and Nørrebrogade, and has despite its small size, come to be a very interesting shopping street in Copenhagen. Here you find many good stores with original designer clothes. Fünf is one example, where five young designers have got together and started their own store where they sell their own creations. At Hooha you’ll find T-shirts and caps with prints by Danish graphic artists, and at Bark, the owners sell clothes with self-printed quotes such as “morgenstund har guld I mund” (=the early bird catches the worm).

Smash colours and cool accessories

In the same street you find Goggle, selling street wear and jeans from Cheap Monday and Nudie. They are also one of the few distributors of the Danish underground brand AnnHagen.
A few minutes away you find the street Skt. Peders Stræde and the design co-operative Cookiefactory. They also have printed T-shirts, but instead you should go with a scarf to match the one you already bought on Elmegade. You can also buy neat and original postcards from Artfart to send back home and tell of your Copenhagen visit.

If you go to the more central parts and Krystalgade, you can dig in on even more trendy clothes. Close to one another is Wood Wood and Wood Wood, the first store selling exclusively clothes by the famous Danish multi-artist. So if you’re into colourful patterns and hip accessories like bags and nail polish, you won’t get disappointed. On Vesterbro you can buy interior decorations from Designer Zoo or visit Snygg Designstudio and give yourself a nice bracelet from Vicki Zoé Ziska.
