Renting a car in Denmark
|
It’s easy to rent a car in Copenhagen, but Denmark is actually a quite expensive country to both rent and drive in. there are high environmental taxes, driving up the value-added tax. Highways and speed limitsIt’s free of charge to drive on highways in Denmark, but they’re not especially adjusted to the increase in traffic during the 90’s. Thus, it may be good to avoid the rush hours, which usually is daily between around 3.30pm-6pm. However, driving inwards Copenhagen will not be any problem. The speed limit is at 130km/h, but far from all allows this high speed. In the inner city, the limit is 50km/h, on main roads and 90km/h on expressways. Bridges and feesThe Great Belt Bridge, opened in 1997, was Denmark’s first user charged bridge. It costs little over 200 DKK to pass, but as a tourist, it’s worth the trip, since it’s a splendid view and an impressive bridge. A weekend ticket costs 360 DKK and a Sunday return ticket 330 DKK.
