The Daisy Route
|
In 1991, the Queen of Denmark, Margrete II inaugurated Denmark’s most beautiful routes. It’s commonly known that the queen’s nick name is “Daisy”, which is which is why the route are called Margueritruten (=The Daisy Route). The routes have been chosen by their idyllic nature and interesting sights nearby. One of these routes is Strandvejen (=the shore road), which stretches from Copenhagen and up to Helsingør (=Elsinore). You pass beautiful coast, landscape and shore side on your way, and can spend rest of the day in Helsingør. How to goIt’s a good idea to take the car, since it’s quite far. It’s also smart to have either a GPS installed, or a good map, which you’re able to buy at gas stations. Now you are ready to start, so take the northward way to Østerbrogade, which opens on to Strandvejen and the route towards Helsingør. Sights worth a stop along to wayStrandvejen is also known as “the whiskey belt”, because along the route lives those who can afford the most expensive whiskey, for example princess Alexandra, and a lot of other celebrities. When you reach Hellerup, you can visit the Experimentarium. Later on in Klampenborg you may take a dip at the beach Bellevue Strand, which is designed by the famous Arne Jacobsen. You will also find the zoo, Dyrehaven, and the amusement park Bakken. Keep going and you find Denmark’s Aquarium, Charlottenlund Strand, the prominent museum Louisiana, and lastly Shakespeare’s Hamlet’s castle, Kronborg Slot. You can take the ferry further on to Helsingborg and have dinner on the boat, stay in Helsingør or head back for Copenhagen. Adresses: Published 2008-12-02 13:40 |
