S-Trains
|
The Danish name “S-tog” is taken from Berlin, where you can travel by S-bahn. It simply means that they are trains above ground in the city and suburbs, and that you get around faster. The S-trains runs from early morning to late evening, with a stop between 1.30 am-5am. The train routes are called for example A o C and runs every 10-20 minutes, depending on the time of day. However, if you’re only travelling to one of the central stations such as Nørreport, Østerport, Vesterport or Hovedbanen, you can principally take any one of the trains; they pass every 2-4 minutes. Each S-train route has its own colour, so the maps are easily overlooked. TicketsA single ticket costs 20 DKK and is valid for bus, metro and S-trains. This ticket covers 2 zones, so if you’re going to Kastrup, you have to buy a ticket for 3 zones, which costs 30 DKK. A ticket coupon with 10 tickets costs 120 DKK, which is suitable if you’re in town a few days. If you wish to bring a bike, this costs an extra 10 DKK, just make sure that you not bring it in rush hours. The compartments in which bicycles are allowed are marked with a large bicycle icon on the door. Visit www.movia.dk if you more information on prices and schedules.
