How to travel by bus
|
Copenhagen’s public transport net is well developed and smoothly takes you all over town. Besides the metro and railway, there are lots of bus lines to choose from. The most popular lines run about every 5 minutes, but you never have to wait more than 10 minutes for the others. A few lines worth knowing of are 5a, running from outer Nørrebro to Amager, bus 18, taking you from Nordhavn to Frederiksberg and 1a, going thorough Hellerup to Christianshavn. See www.movia.dk for route schedules. www.rejseplanen.dk helps you to plan your trip, schedules and connections. The S-busesThe S-buses are express routes, which have fewer stops along the way, so make sure the bus stops at your destination. The S-bus 250S goes to the airport, Kastrup, going from Frederiksundsvej, via Nørrebro to Dragør. Sightseeing by BusIf you don’t wish to pay for a sightseeing tour, but still see the city by bus, you should take bus nr 15. It departs from Vesterport Station, Hovedbanegården and Kongens Nytorv. Bus no.15 is one of the few double-deckers in Copenhagen, so you will be able to see plenty of the city for only 20 DKK, and can get off where you please. In between times, bus no.15 is a regular bus, in that case, it’s just to get a coffee and wait a couple of minutes! DiscountsThe price for a single fare in 2 zones, which covers a large part of the city, costs 20 DKK. The ticket is valid for an hour. Many of the locals buy a “klippekort” – a ticket coupon with 10 fares. Then, it’s only 12 DKK per ticket and the coupon is not personal. You can also buy a one-day-card, valid for 24 hours. It can also be a good idea to invest in a CPHCARD. You choose from a 24- or 72 hour card and can then use the public transport net for free, you also get free entrances to over 60 museums and attractions and discounts on activities, car rentals, sightseeing tours and restaurants. The card costs 199/429 DKK and may be bought at train stations, hotels, tourist offices, in the airport and on www.dsb.dk or www.movia.dk. Published 2008-11-26 16:20 |
