Refshaleøen
|
One of the more exiting areas in Copenhagen right now is Refshaleøen. The district has originally hosted an old shipyard, where vessels were built and welded. That’s why there are many large halls and premises, which have stood empty since 1986 when the shipyard closed down. Nowadays, Refshaleøen has become the home for completely different thing than ships. Companies rent themselves in and take over buildings, which actually are situated very central – it’s takes around 10 minutes by car to both Kastrup and Kongens Nytorv. A green and eco-friendly cityYou can take bus no.40, stopping at both the central station and Christianshavn station. Thereafter you can take a walk around the area, where there are plans to create a green and eco-friendly neighborhood in the city. Refshaleøen is a part of the new city planning, which is intended to change the dock in Copenhagen. Thus, this includes Langelinie, Sydhavn, Nordhavn and Holmen. But with its 500 000 m2, Refshaleøen constitutes a more vast area. Right now you can explore the area whilst there still is worn down factory buildings and un-asphalted paths, not commonly seen in Copenhagen.
