Malmoes nightlife offer a wide range of night open clubs and bars, but the evening starts long before that! Preferably at one of the many pubs and beer joints around Möllevångstorget. It is not many metres between one pub and the next, and the neighbourhood offer a fun mixture of people and places. Everyone from club going hipsters to math students and good old regular customers meet at Möllevångstorget to drink beer and socialize.

Outdoor drinking

As long as it´s not too cold, Nyhavns outdoor patio is a popular choice. Here you can order the first beer of the evening, and perhaps order one of their popular burgers. If the patio is full you can try nearby Restaurang Mascot, Malmoes former goth and hard rock pub, but nowadays just a normal pub inhibited by regular After Workers and beer enthusiasts.

Colorful beer and sing-along

Trendy pub Metro is our next stop. Here you can listen to local DJs playing everything from fusion jazz to 60s soul in the restaurants cosy reddish interior. One wall is adorned with a tropical sunset over an exotic beach, and the atmosphere is laidback and homey. At Metro it is mandatory to order a large Hoegaarden that comes in an enormous frosted glass and enjoy it at the patio. Right across from Metro you´ll find the spartan Indian restaurant Sapla. Have a Knizce in the blue-green interior and join in on the sing-along that often occurs spontaneously later in the evening.

Old favourite, new look

The popular student hangout Golden has recently been restored and offers, besides beer, both pizza and Indian food. The beer is cheap and the staff polite. Golden has clubs a few nights a week when local DJs play indie or reggae. They also have a small assortment of cocktails, but whatever you do, don´t order the drink “Aphjärna” (Monkeybrain)!

Later in the evening

After midnight you´ll likely end up at Tempo Bar & Kök or Zarathustra. They are widely different in style and spirit selection, but at Möllevångstorget the lines usually fade as the hours pass and turn into night. Zarathustra is located at Simrishamnsgatan, a stone´s throw from Golden. It´s often jam-packed in the small bar with a beatific mix of late-night revellers, old ladies with dogs, musicians and students. If you´re lucky you could find a spot in the cosy backyard. Last but not least comes Tempo, they carry a high-class beer selection and have genuinely nice personnel. The interior has an old 50s design vibe, and the place is a big cult favourite in Malmoes nightlife. If you´re here earlier in the evening be sure to order dinner at Tempo as they are one of Malmoes best restaurants! During sunny afternoons in the summer, you can sit at their Parisian patio and snack on their famous “bartallrik” (bar plate) which consists of cheese, bread, Spanish sausage and olives.
