Copenhagen has a lot of parks that suits perfectly for a picnic during nice weather. In Frederiksberg Have which surrounds Frederiksborg Slot, you find Chinese pavilions, temples and a dripstone cave. Bernstorffsparken is a lovely park, designed with inspiration from the romantic English landscape gardens. Here you can stroll amongst large green lawns, oak- and beeches woods and visit The Queen Louise’s Teahouse with a view over the rose garden. Fredensborg Slot & Slotshave and Kongens Have are also popular spots for couples in the spring and summer. Fredensborg Slotshave has the largest and most well-preserved baroque gardens in Denmark with 70 sculptures to look at. Tivoli is also worth a visit at any season. When the spring arrives, Tivoli is decorated with thousands of flowers, plants and Chinese lanterns in beautiful colors that lights up the park when it gets dark. Then you can take a walk around the lake and watch the fireworks.
Louisiana is an international recognized museum and a flagship regarding Danish objects. It is located by the coast in an old park with a beautiful view of Öresund, about 40 minutes from the central train station. Louisiana is not only perceived as a collection of contemporary art, but also as an interaction of art, architecture and landscape. Since the establishment, over 50 years ago, it´s been the most visited museum in Denmark and houses 6 to 8 exhibitions each year ranging from modern to contemporary art. The permanent exhibition is based on art from 1945 and thereafter, but also contains a few pieces from the interwar years and cover international artists like Max Ernst, Giacometti, Moore, Picasso and Rauschenberg. Louisiana also has a large collection of sculptures, which is one the museums biggest assets, as well as a popular house for the children and a concert- and lecture hall.
From the central station it takes you 35 minutes by train to Humlebæk station and thereafter a 15 minute walk. You can buy a combined train- and Louisiana ticket from DSB, at a discount price.
