The best thing with having brunch is not just the delicious food on the plate; the surrounding is also of great importance. Here’s a guide to cafes that have a nice atmosphere and some of the best brunches in Copenhagen.

Chill out at Halvandet

Café Halvandet is located a short bicycle ride from the city centre and is a wonderful place. Listen to the waves breaking against the shore while you’re eating. During the weekends they serve extravagant brunch plates with everything your heart desires. You can also get twenty minutes massage for less than 200 DKK. The brunch is served at weekends until 3 pm.

Bopa Plads

If you feel like sitting down in a calm environment with lush leaf trees as your companion you should go to Bopa Plads. Here are two cafes located next to each other. One of them is Café Pixie that has decorated their interior with retro toys. This is an unpretentious cafe with traditional café food on the menu. Except the traditional brunch they also serve a good vegetarian brunch. Café Bopa is the café next door and has a classical French interior design. Bopa also serve a traditional brunch but no vegetarian version. Don’t visit Bopa too late since a lot on the menu can be gone.

The lakes

Søerne is Danish for the lakes but actually Søerne is old moats that have nothing to do with lakes. Many people enjoy taking a walk, exercising or sitting down at a café here. This is also the place where some idyllic spots to have brunch at is located. At Nørrebrogade and Peblinge Dossering you’ll find Esmeralda Brunchbar in a basement. Here you can enjoy traditional brunch and vegetarian brunch with nuts and spinach pie and their famous juices. If you’re walking towards Østerbro you come across Den Franske Café, that’s a classical café that serves a self-service brunch for 100 DKK during the weekends. The best thing with this brunch is the homemade pancakes. Den Franske Café also serves brunch on weekdays that contains smoked salmon among other things. Bon appétit!
